Water Treatment for Boilers and WSC Chemistry

The process removes virtually all the minerals and produces very high quality water containing almost no dissolved solids. It is used for very high pressure boilers such as those in power stations. If the raw water has a high amount of suspended solids this will quickly foul the ion exchange material, drastically increasing operating costs.

1.3 Fuel Oil Combustion

The level of SOx emissions is not dependent on boiler size or burner design. Typically, about 95% of the sulfur in the fuel will be emitted as SO2, 1-5% as SO3, and 1-3% as sulfate particulate. Sulfate particulate is not considered part of the total SOx emissions. Historically, SOx pollution has been controlled by either dispersion or reduction.

Boiler Water Quality

Water Hardness is the primary source of scale in boiler equipment. Always use a softener to ensure good Boiler Water Quality. Chemicals are designed to polish away small amounts of hardness that by-passes the softener. Silica in boiler feedwater can be a problem in larger steam boiler systems. You must maintain a Total OH alkalinity ratio of 3:1 in high pressure boilers to prevent plating of silica.
