The pressure in the main steam line is a combination of both boilers as they arbitrage pressures to a common pressure. With respect to steam temperatures, a lot of that has to do with draft flow. You can have one boiler that has excessive draft and creates a super heat temp too high while the other boiler is within parameters.

At 300 psig the temperature of your steam would be 416.68 F. At 300 psig your enthalpy is 1202.85 btu/lb. The good news is that Boiler B, though it is half the pressure of Boiler A, still contains almost as much enthalpy or btu/lb.

If the boiler setpoint is 80 PSI and the pressure in the boiler is 81 PSI, the modulation control should be sending a signal to the burner to drive to a lower firing rate if it is not already in low fire.

The size of the header will depend upon the number and size of boilers and the design of the distribution system. In a large plant, the most practical approach is to distribute steam via a high pressure main around the site. High pressure distribution is generally preferred as it reduces pipe sizes relative to capacities and velocities.
